The flight from Los Angeles to Palm Springs is one hour and 10 minutes, and recently the Away team made that mini-trek with a few friends in tow. Jenny Ong of Neon Blush, Grasie Mercedes, Devon Baldwin, and Rachel Nguyen of That’s Chic climbed aboard a Surfair flight, and made the 109-mile journey to Two Bunch Palms, a boutique hotel and spa with an organic restaurant and curated wellness program. Between hiking, reading, and soaking in the natural mineral springs that trickle down from Miracle Hill (which are therapeutic thanks to their low sulfur/high lithium composition), it was a long weekend of relaxation. In the spirit of total rejuvenation, each woman brought along their favorite things that help keep them centered while they’re away from home. Here, take a look inside their bags.

Dr. Jart Cicapair Color Correcting Treatment SPF 30
I actually discovered this after getting it in a little goody bag from AWAY! I’m a nutcase about skincare, so I always make sure to bring products with sunscreen no matter where I travel, nor the season. I always have to have this on me because it’s like an all-in-one power product: coverage is excellent, sunscreen is included, its plant-based ingredients restore the skin rather than merely cover it up, and it’s nice that it’s compact.
Moon Juice’s Dream Dust
It’s difficult for me to fall asleep at home in general, let alone adjust to a new city or surrounding. So to remedy that, I always bring with me the Dream Dust from Moon Juice. It gets me to sleep soundly throughout the night like melatonin does, but unlike melatonin, it doesn’t make me feel groggy the next morning after having slept so deeply. I cannot thank this enough for keeping my circadian clock in check.
Disposable Camera
I love bringing a film/disposable camera because there’s no worrying about reviewing the shot and there are limited shots so you only use the camera when you’re really feeling in the moment. I also love the fact that sometimes I forget about developing photos right away, so it becomes a nice little surprise when I see photos of trips and memories I haven’t already looked over a hundred times.
Nannette de Gaspé eye mask
Most of the time, no matter how far I go, I try to fit everything I need in a carry-on. I never budge on outer/underwear and a pair of sneakers, so if I can save room in any other department, it’s a big plus. This waterless, reusable eye mask from Nannette de Gaspé saves me a little bit of that space. I love to bring this wherever I travel because it’s not fussy and the technology allows us to reuse it for at least three times, so it covers your de-puffing, face-brightening, skincare needs for at least a few days. No goopy product or clunky jars necessary.
Dr. Jart Liftra Contour Shaper
This weird two-pronged thing is a small hand roller you can massage your face muscles with. I’m really not too sure what the science is behind it, but it’s supposed to sculpt your face (and body) and stimulate your muscles so that it improves your skin’s elasticity. If for nothing else, it’s just a really calming activity I like to do before bed that reminds me of my skincare regimen at home.

Native Sneakers
Sneakers for hiking and all around comfort when you need to throw something on. These are from Native, and so are especially travel-friendly because they’re super light. They are like comfortable paper shoes!
Swell Bottle
Water bottle for environmentally-friendly hydration. I recently got a Swell bottle and can see why they’re so popular, it seriously keeps liquids really hot or cold.
HUM Nutrition Vitamins
Vitamins! I like bringing along digestive supplements while traveling since time on a plane or away from your routine can bug your gut. EGCg Green Tea pills for metabolism (all my friends are on board with this for life in general) and Daily Cleanse from HUM Nutrition.
Away Mini Suitcase
Little Away cases are the best suitcase organizer for inefficient packer. They fit so much in it and it’s like a physical vessel that helps me organize my thoughts but IRL.
Journal
Bullet Journal comes with me ever where – I rarely leave without it. I’ve definitely gotten more neurotic and crazy as I get deeper into my career and need someone to keep me sane and organized. No one wants to take on that responsibility besides this inanimate object.
Made by Dawn Swimsuit
Made by Dawn makes the best swimwear. Romantic, frilly, unique goodies for your swim bod, but not always the most thoughtful of tan lines.
